THE ART OF PROFESSOR DERG BURGER

I consider myself a mixed media artist. Primarily my work is digital and done on an IPad, however within the programs i use digitally, there are thousands upon thousands of brushes and tools that replicate various forms of media such as oil paint and acrylic paint, all the way up to 3D modeling and rendering. I enjoy working with all of these tools, as i have a hard time sticking to just one style or vision. I enjoy cartooning the most (this is what's easiest for me), however here you will see that i do also work in abstracts, i enjoy collage making, and even sculpting, The idea with this blog is to showcase everything that i do, no matter how silly, because i find that nothing stands the test of time like somebody's inner lunatic captured within a piece of artwork.

A Dog is just a dog, but a DAWG is a friend for life.

An abstract painting of what i imagined to be a sort of hound, one whom represents the ambigious "lifelong friend mutt", in essence the spirit of friendship, God truly is a canine.

Feeling Orange

Oftentimes, i wake up in the morning and i feel nothing but color. Beautiful, radiant, at times even a bit intimidating color. In all of it's glory, the unrelenting color consumes me and my day, overtaking everything i see. One day, it was Orange. And so, i painted Orange, and some other shapes and things. I rather liked the Orange day i had, it felt particularly jazzy.

I awoke, alone

This one is a piece inspired by a dream i had that from what I can remember, centered around my fear of finding faith, and or religion. I do not fear it so much as hold some disdain for western religions and their at times regressive ideals, however i do find connection to more traditional eastern spiritualities. In the dream, i awoke in the esteemed Christian "heaven" only to find myself alone, and much more uncomfortable in my skin than i had ever felt- i did not belong here.

Me, as a jellyfish

I like to describe this one as a self portrait, of sorts. I do not typically consider myself a jellyfish but, it felt right, you know?

The earth, all at once

This one is a rendered painting that was orginially done in digital acrylic paint. It is inspired by an acid trip i took in which i witnessed what i percieved to be earth in it's entirety, spinning infinately and beautifully. A difficult feeling to explain, yet beautiful.

Camel Blues

Inspired by something my boyfriend said. I can't remember exactly what it was. Very clever though. Perhaps it was a song lyric. "I've got those Camel Blues" i think it was.

The Koi Pond

This one was done using a paint spaltter bucket tool. I thought it was reminescent of a Koi Pond.

Itchy Sweater

It's more of a feeling than an object. It is an itching, an infernal itching that inclines one to carry out all the dastardly acts they've ever committed. Ignoring the itch, is quite a challenge. Digital chalk pastels are the medium here.
